Connect SFX Engine to Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT or any MCP client. Ask for the sounds your game needs and your agent generates them, saves the files and wires them into your code.
Made 3 sounds with SFX EngineOne remote server, no API key to copy. Pick your agent, add the URL, and sign in with your SFX Engine account.
Add the server:
claude mcp add --transport http sfx-engine https://api.sfxengine.com/mcp
Run /mcp in Claude Code, pick sfx-engine and sign in to SFX Engine in your browser.
Another MCP client? Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth works with the server URL. Clients that can't sign in can send your API key as an Authorization: Bearer header.
Paste this into your agent to build a starter sound pack, or describe what your project needs.
Use SFX Engine to make a sound pack for my game. Look at the code to find the events that need audio (jumps, hits, pickups, UI clicks, menus), generate one short sound effect for each with a consistent style, save them in the project's audio folder and hook them up. Then generate a 30-second background music loop for the main level.
Six tools, the same models as the SFX Engine app. Generations use your account's credits and land in your library too.
generate_sound_effectMake a sound effect from a description and wait for it, usually 5–20 seconds. Returns a link to the audio file.
generate_musicMake a ~30 second instrumental track for levels and menus, or a full song with vocals.
list_sound_effectsSearch the sounds you've already made, so your agent reuses them instead of generating duplicates.
get_sound_effectCheck on a sound that's still generating and get its file once it's ready.
get_musicCheck on a track that's still generating and get its file.
get_credit_balanceSee how many credits are left before generating a big batch.
The same generation is a REST API. Create a key on the API page in the app and call it from your build scripts, backend or game tools.
curl -X POST https://api.sfxengine.com/v1/sound-effect \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SFX_ENGINE_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"prompt": "retro 8-bit coin pickup chime", "length": 1}'Every plan includes commercial use. Pick the amount of credits you need.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard way AI agents like Claude Code, Cursor and ChatGPT use outside tools. Adding the SFX Engine MCP server gives your agent tools to generate sound effects and music, so you can ask for audio in the same chat where you write your code.
No. The first time your agent uses SFX Engine, it opens a sign-in page in your browser. You log in, approve the connection, and you're done. API keys are still available for scripts and for clients that can't sign in.
Generations through MCP or the API use the same credits as the app: 3 credits per sound effect and 10 per music track. Checking on sounds, searching your library and checking your balance are free.
Yes. Sounds and music generated on a paid plan are royalty-free for commercial use, in games, apps, videos and anything else you ship.
Claude Code, Claude (claude.ai and Desktop), Cursor, VS Code with Copilot, ChatGPT, Codex, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, and any other client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth.
Yes. SFX Engine returns standard audio files, and your agent saves them into your project and writes the playback code for whatever engine or framework you use.
Tell your agent the style once, for example "16-bit retro, dry, punchy". It repeats that phrase in every prompt, which keeps a pack of sounds feeling like one game.
Add the server, sign in, and ask for your first sound.
